Family production of Olive Oil in Provence

farmhouse sénéguier family production olive oil in provenceIn 1999 we had finally managed to find the rare pearl ! An agricultural land of 17 hectares in one piece. Three years of research have finally come to fruition, and we could start realizing our project. We wanted to set up as an olive oil producer and raise our daughters in the countryside, far from the city. Laurent Badré wanted to continue the activity of his grandparents who, once, had olive trees in the Var. The olive tree is a passion, a vocation that is transmitted from generation to generation.

The ground being bare, everything had to be done. Step by step, one by one, we planted 4000 olive trees on 12 hectares. From the beginning our daughters helped us with the works, finally 2 of the 3, because the last was born at the same time as the last slice of plantations, in 2001. After planting, it was necessary to install 22kms of drip to water our precious olive trees ,and protect tree trunks from the sharp teeth of rabbits with chicken wire.

We watched the trees grow along with the girls, first they were much bigger than the olive trees, but the latter quickly overtook the girls and grew at great speed ! so fast and good that we had a first production in 2005 which allowed us to start marketing our oil under the name of Mas Sénéguier.

Our job, a passion

farmhouse sénéguier family production olive oil in provenceSince the plantation we manage our estate with cultural practices which are those of reasoned agriculture: use of natural pest control products and techniques as well as fertilization. (Insects, spreading organic manure, fly traps, leaf and soil analyzes etc …)

The whole family participates in the work on the estate. It is Laurent Badré who works every day, all year round in plots for pruning, cure, weed and groom trees. Our eldest daughter learns pruning techniques with her father. Everyone participates in the harvest : you have to pull the nets, pick the fruit, sort the sheets, fill the boxes…

Then comes bottling and labeling by hand.. Our bottles being square to the foot, and round at the top are, we think so, very beautiful but they cannot go through the labeling machine ! So we all go to the chain to label the bottles one by one.

Since 2009 we are pleased to receive awards in France and abroad for our oils.
